Healthy Guts, Happy Lives in Autism: Our New Project Approved!
This project is being implemented with grant support from the German National Agency “JUGEND für Europa” under the European Union Erasmus+ Program.

We are taking another scientific and innovative step to improve the quality of life for individuals on the autism spectrum! Our new Erasmus+ project, “Healthy Guts, Happy Lives in Autism,” focuses on the vital link between gut health and brain development (the Gut-Brain Axis) and aims to empower youth workers in this area.
Why “Gut Health and Autism”?
Scientific research shows that the gut microbiota plays a critical role in behavioral and cognitive development. Gut problems, frequently observed in individuals with autism, can trigger anxiety, irritability, and communication difficulties. Our research revealed that 75% of youth workers lack sufficient knowledge about this important link and probiotic practices. Our project aims to bridge this knowledge gap.
What are our Project Goals?
Knowledge and Awareness: To provide in-depth training to youth workers on the gut-brain connection and the effects of probiotics on individuals with autism.
Applicable Interventions: To develop probiotic-based nutritional recommendations and practical gut health practices for individuals with autism.
Counseling Capacity: To bring youth workers to a level where they can provide nutritional planning and guidance services to families.
Social Support Networks: To establish support networks that will reduce the social isolation of individuals with autism through gut health-focused interventions.
Public Awareness: To conduct public awareness campaigns on the relationship between probiotics and autism.
Participant Profile and International Collaboration
Our project will involve a total of 28 youth workers from 7 different countries. In addition to professionals, we are also including disadvantaged and unemployed youth workers, offering them opportunities for specialization and volunteering in this innovative field.
Our Activity Program:
Training Seminars: The effects of probiotics on gut health and behavioral development.
Practical Workshops: Preparing probiotic-rich recipes (yogurt making, etc.) and stress management methods.
Digital Monitoring Tools: Introduction to digital tools used to monitor gut health.
Health Festivals: Engaging with the community through outdoor seminars and information stands.
Social Media Campaigns: Disseminating scientific data to a wide audience through digital content.
Innovative Approach in Youth Work
This project offers youth workers not only a social perspective but also an innovative toolkit based on health and nutrition. We are building a youth work model that enables more effective communication with families, puts scientific developments into practice, and produces concrete solutions for the well-being of individuals with autism.
For a healthier future and happier lives, we continue to work in the light of science!
